Personality: Rare Feather is a wild, sometimes even dangerous mare. She enjoys using her energy but may bolt, buck or pigroot at any time. She tends to guard her food feriouciously and will attack stallions or geldings if they are too close to her if she is not in heat. She is fine in a calm herd of mares but should be kept away from smaller animals or horses. Feather is very friendly and will eagerly approach you, but may bite if you give her treats from your hand. She tends to nod her head up and down a lot when being ridden, but won't usually pull. At times she may become a bit strong but she is easy to handle once you know what she is trying to do.

...This girl was bought at auction in Oklahoma last week. Julia was really impressed with how this girl moved, and she was going to slaughter if not sold at auction. That was enough motivation for Julia...She pulled her out of the 2 horse trailer, and immediately put her out in the round pen to get some energy off. She had been stomping in the trailer and shrieking for the whole ride. She was a feisty mare, but it was obvious she loved showing off. She was friendly enough for Julia to get a halter around her, and shove her in the trailer. She didn't like that too much! When she was running around in the round pen, doing funny piaffe jumps and bucking like crazy. Julia started questioning why she bought the mare. She could use with another project...but still. Then she thought of Shayna! She'd love a mare like this! Julia started giggling, they'd probably make Grand Prix together. Still laughing, she made her way to the house, leaving the mare for a few more minutes in there.

After a week of long travels from America all the way to Australia, Rare Feather had arrived at Wild Ibis Stud. She did not behave herself on the way over according to the aeroplane's grooms but she came back in once piece, and that was what really mattered. Shayna released the crazy mare into a small paddock near the large wooden mare barn and watched as she galloped around, stretching her legs.
